Eisenhower Memory Care Center Special Benefit Concert

The Auxiliary’s 6th Annual Memory Care Center Benefit Concert, Rhythm & Rainbows: Songs of George Gershwin and Harold Arlen not only continues the Auxiliary’s proud tradition of fundraising but will also boast historical significance as it celebrates 35 years for the Memory Care Center. Further note that 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Auxiliary, and the result is a truly historic occasion!

Rhythm & Rainbows promises to be a stellar afternoon with its now traditional and impressively consistent offering of the desert’s finest musical talent meticulously and brilliantly gathered by Maestro Tim Bruneau. Colleagues from the Los Angeles Opera will be reunited with the finest voices from the Coachella Valley and the stirring sounds of the California Desert Chorale to celebrate the extraordinary creations of two iconic American composers: George Gershwin and Harold Arlen. From the contemporary operas and popular jazz standards of Gershwin to the spirited American classics from stage and screen by Arlen, Rhythm & Rainbows is sure to deliver an unparalleled afternoon of musical enchantment!

The musical talent assembled for this event will not only feature a select chamber choir of the California Desert Chorale and (by popular demand) The Sweethots, but also our loyal, returning talented and credentialed cadre of guest vocalists: Los Angeles Opera star Suzanna Guzmán (Mezzo-Soprano), British opera star Delatour Zimmer (Soprano), Broadway star Patricia Welch (Soprano), Brianna Finnell (Soprano), Laura Stave (Mezzo-Soprano), Michelle Fiore (Soprano), Ana Rangel (Soprano), Eisenhower’s own Dr. Lisa Lindley, and the jazz singer and pianist with the most engaging persona, Yve Evans.

The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Annenberg Health Sciences Building at Eisenhower, Helene Galen Auditorium, with complimentary valet parking. As promised, it will be followed by a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception in the rotunda and dining room sponsored by a fine collection of desert restauranteurs.

Opened in 1984, Eisenhower Memory Care Center remains the Coachella Valley’s only not-for-profit adult day care center for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Caregivers who may easily become exhausted from meeting the daily demands of caring for such individuals find a welcome solution in the Memory Care Center.
