Beginning in Golden Gate Park, we'll head toward the surf at Ocean Beach. As the shroud of San Francisco fog lifts, the recently restored Cliff House comes into view. Passing the evocative ruins of the Sutro Baths, we'll navigate the forested Coastal Trail at Lands End at the western edge of the city – and the continent, enjoying stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. The journey winds its way to the Palace of the Legion of Honor – sitting high above the Golden Gate, and marking the site of the western terminus of the USA’s first transcontinental highway.
This 6 mile run (9.5 km), approximately 1-1/2 hrs, is on pavement and dirt trails. There are several hills, stairs, and breathtaking views. Moderate difficulty.
